Auri Scan iOS App - Privacy Policy
Privacy Policy for Auri Scan
Last updated: April 23, 2026
Auri Scan (“the app”, “we”, “our”) is designed to let you check product labels against the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) carcinogen database. This policy explains what happens to your information when you use the app.
Summary
- We do not collect, transmit, or sell any personal information.
- All scanning and analysis happens entirely on your device. No scanned text, image, or result ever leaves your phone.
- Your scan history is stored only on your device and is automatically deleted after 10 days.
- We do not use analytics, advertising SDKs, or third-party tracking.
Information We Collect
None. Auri Scan does not collect, store on our servers, or transmit any personal information. The app has no user accounts, no sign-in, and no server backend. We have no way to identify you or access your data.
How the App Uses Your Device
To provide its scanning feature, the app uses the following device capabilities:
- Camera access. The app uses your device’s camera via Apple’s VisionKit framework to read text from product labels. Camera frames are processed live, on-device, and are not saved as images or sent anywhere. The camera is only active while you are on the scan screen.
- On-device text recognition (OCR). Extracted text is processed entirely on your device using Apple’s built-in VisionKit OCR.
- On-device language detection. The app uses Apple’s Natural Language framework to identify whether scanned text is in English, French, or Spanish. This runs entirely on your device.
- Local storage. Scans you perform are saved to your device’s local storage so they appear in your scan history. This storage is sandboxed to the app and is not accessible to us or to other apps.
Data Retention
- Scan history is automatically purged on a rolling 10-day window. Scans older than 10 days are deleted from your device automatically, with no action required from you.
- You can delete individual scans or clear all history at any time from the Scan History screen.
- Uninstalling the app deletes all locally stored scans immediately.
Third-Party Services
Auri Scan does not use any third-party services, analytics platforms, advertising SDKs, crash reporting services, or tracking technologies. The app integrates only with Apple’s standard, on-device iOS frameworks:
- VisionKit (camera and OCR)
- NaturalLanguage (on-device language detection)
- SwiftUI and Foundation (UI and local storage)
None of these frameworks transmit your data off-device for the functionality the app uses.
Network Activity
The app does not make any network requests to perform scanning, matching, or storing history. All core functionality works offline. iOS itself may make standard system-level network requests unrelated to the app’s operation (for example, to check app integrity); those are governed by Apple’s privacy policy.
Children’s Privacy
Auri Scan is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any information from children. Because the app does not collect any personal information from anyone, no child’s data is collected or stored by us.
Your Choices and Rights
Because no data leaves your device, there is nothing for us to access, export, or delete on your behalf. You control all data:
- View your data: the Scan History screen shows everything the app has stored.
- Delete your data: swipe to delete individual scans, or tap “Clear History” to remove all of them. Uninstalling the app removes all data immediately.
- Disable camera access: revoke permission anytime in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera → Auri Scan.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR (EU/UK) or CCPA (California). Because we do not collect any personal data, those rights are effectively satisfied by the app’s design.
Medical Disclaimer
Auri Scan is an informational tool only. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice. Scan results are based on public IARC classifications and do not account for exposure levels, individual health factors, or regulatory context. Consult a qualified healthcare professional for medical decisions.
Changes to This Policy
If we change how the app handles data, we will update this policy and change the “Last updated” date above. Material changes will be surfaced in the app before they take effect.
